It should not come as a surprise to see that the Confucius Mansion 孔府 has a garden of its own. Paralleling imperial palaces, the Confucius Mansion is similar to the Forbidden City in this regard. The positioning of the garden is a big strange though, but probably because these are nearer the residential structures that they put the garden nearer it. The garden supposedly has artificial hills, streams and fountains but I didn’t see anything of the sort.
Maybe it was due to the fact that winter was approaching that I didn’t see the streams and fountains, but I could not have possibly missed the artificial hills. Anyway, the garden was just that and nothing particularly special about it, aside from the fact that it is old as it was built in the Ming Dynasty. The Rear Flower Garden is the last stop in a visit to the Confucius Mansion as most people exit from here. Now on to the third and final Confucius.
