The second of the Three Confucius 三孔 is the Confucius Mansion 孔府. This is where the great teacher lived more than two thousand years ago. The Confucius Mansion is beside the Confucius Temple and just a short walk from the exit from the temple grounds. I was a little surprised to see a large group of local tourists hanging out the front door of the Confucius Mansion entrance gate, but it didn’t really matter to me since I already have a through ticket which will allows entrance to the Three Confucius 三孔.
Confucius Mansion is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and I was fortunate enough to be able to get here. This place doesn’t get that much attention from the rest of the world and I hope writing about it will be able to get the word out. After the more modern structure of the entrance gate is another entrance gate, which I suppose is the actual one. The gate was emblazoned with the words 圣府 or Saint’s Mansion obviously referring to Confucius.
