The way down or up, depending on how you look at it, Mount Tai is just as interesting as the views from the top. Aside from the fact that there were a lot of tourists on the never ending stairs to the top, the stairs themselves follow the contour of the mountain giving visitors different views of the mountain. At one point, the side of Mount Tai was visible and what appeared to be the Terrace for Viewing Lu State 瞻鲁台. There was a bare faced rock that is plainly visible from below. It was kind of hard to believe that just a few minutes ago I was on top of that mountain.
I kept looking back to see what my progress was but it was still not the photo op that I was looking for. The South Gate to Heaven was already so tiny but I could hardly see the stairs since I wasn’t low enough. Eventually, I would know that was a good spot by the presence of numerous photographers along the stairs. If there was a large number of photographers at one area it means it was a good spot. I had to constantly switch from a wide angle lens to a telephoto lens and I was already tired from all that walking. I had no idea how long it will take to get down, at least I was going down and not going up!
