There was a refreshing lack of mass tourism right after getting off the cable car. Not surprising since it only unloads six people at a time. It was enjoying the views from the top when I realized that there was so much more to Mount Tai than just looking down from the mountain. There were a whole group of temples here on top of the mountain. There is a path from the cable car station to the group of temples.
It just so happens that the road also brings me to where I should have ended up in the first place -the South Gate to Heaven 南天门. The long flight of stairs from the where the bus dumped me ends up here – after three hours of non-stop climbing. I was looking at the people coming up and they don’t really look good, I guess I made the right decision to go by cable car instead of walking up, at least there is an option. However, I do plan on using this stairway – on the way down that is.
