It was getting late in the day and I really needed to move to my next destination. Fortunately, the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts is very near a subway station so it was easy enough to get around from there. I was very thankful for the subway since I don’t have to worry about figuring out what bus stop to get off at. What’s more, the subway bypasses the Beijing traffic which means I don’t have to worry about the time I move from place to place.
Well, that one is not entirely true. The Beijing subway has a suprisingly extensive network and it is still growing. So extensive it is that it may take quite some time to get from one end of the network to another. I was going to do something like that. I needed to get to the Olympic Sports Center station which is on Line 8. I was on Line 1 and I needed to transfer to Line 5 at Dongdan station then at Huixinxijie Nankou on Line 10 then finally at Beitucheng on Line 8. It was rather fun trying to figure out the best way to transfer, I only dislike the fact the transfering itself is a pain, since one needs to walk a lot just to get to the interchange station. When I got to the Olympic Sports Center station, I realized that it was really brand new since it was rushed for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. However, there is still a fair bit of walking before I get there.
