Although the main building of the Putuozongcheng was really dark, one cannot resist the urge to explore this massive temple. Upon entry into the main building, one would notice that the design of the building changes drastically, as this point, most of the Tibetan-ness of the place is gone and changes to one which is distinctly Chinese. The inside of the main building itself is a great example of this as it is decorated with distinctly Ming style interiors. Unfortunately, some parts are quite dark and you might not be able to see it.
Most of the temple building is very Chinese and it was as if an emperor could live here. It was a bit strange to design the interiors this way since it was supposed to be for the visiting Dalai Lama. Maybe it was to give him a taste of Chinese hospitality. To go to the top floor of the main building you would have to navigate a series of stairs some of them not very obvious. In some places it was very dark, it was almost like navigating a haunted house. The age of the building only adds to the ambience. It almost feels like one of the Japanese horror video games.
