Previously featured on this site just a few days ago was the East Annex Hall which surrounds the Imperial Vault of Heaven. If there is an East Annex Hall, it only follows that there is a West Annex Hall. The West Annex Hall is another hall which bounds the Imprerial Vault of Heaven. And like the East Annex Hall, this was built during the reign of the Emperor Jiajing.
The inside of the West Annex Hall is much like the East Annex Hall, although these host a different set of stone tablets. In this hall, gods of the moon, clouds, rain, wind and thunder are enshrined. It wasn’t easy to tell just from looking at the display. As one would expect, there is significantly less traffic here that outside.
