I remember when we first entered the grounds of Ding Ling, there was a sign to the nearby tomb. This led me to think that the tombs were all near each other. So from the Ding Tomb, I started walking to the next tomb, which was Changling 长陵 or Long Tomb. I was walking along the highway rather aimlessly. Hoping that the passing tour buses would give me a clue where this Changling actually is.
I actually reached a highway and it was along a gentle slope which gave me a better view of the area. There were other places similar to the Ding Tomb as can be seen by the bright orange tiles of the roof and the distinctive Ming style towers. I saw several of them, all of them were far away from here. I had no idea how to go there nor did I know what they were called. Which one was Changling anyway? Frustrated, I head back to Ding Tomb to catch a bus back to Beijing. A passing car offered to bring me back to Ding Tomb, as it turns out, it was a car for hire and I had to pay CNY 5 for that. I felt tricked since I knew I was already nearby.
The lady told me to get on a bus which I forgot which one which will bring me back to Beijing. This one will not take as long as the E22 since it is pass by the highway, naturally it would be more expensive. At least I got something out of her. There were buses going to Changling from here but I was already tired and my experience with the Ding Tomb did make me that interested in visiting Changling anymore. I can only look at the map and try to figure out where they are. Can you?
