The hall leading to the exit of the now-excavated Ding Tomb didn’t use to be there. The long hall of the tomb is bounded by several heavy doors obviously meant to keep intruders out. The doors weren’t easy to open and great care was taken to pry the doors open to reveal the tomb hall. I could imagine how it was back then when the archaeologists were still trying dig this up.
It was definitely not easy, considering the tomb hall was almost five stories underground. The doors themselves were intricately designed. A design fit for an emperor. Now there are stairs which lead up to the main exit of the tomb building. The Ding Tomb was a fascinating look into the lives or deaths of royalty here in China. The emperors were obviously well taken cared of even unto death.
