I was already about halfway around Kunming Lake and I realize that this is actually hard work. The lake is much larger than I thought it would be so I was already trying to pick up my pace. There wasn’t much to see along the way anyway since was walking along the lake shore. The tourist crowds have long gone. I can’t imaging tour guides bringing their groups here. Of course once in a while you can still see some interesting structures.
The Pavillion of Bright Scenery 景明楼 is another structure along the shores of the lake. It was something which seemed to be out of place since there was hardly anything along the way. Maybe that is exactly why it was here in the first place. The Pavillion of Bright Scenery has an unobstructed view of Wanshou Hill. Maybe that is why they gave it that name. However, from this point, Wanshou hill seems to be quite far and you probably won’t be able to se much. However it was still nice to walk in these parts of the park since no one else was here. I guess the emperors felt the same way as well when they built this pavillion.
