One of the must do activities here in Cameron Highlands is to pay a visit to one of several tea plantations in the area. Most guest houses in Tanah Rata organize group tours of popular places, one of these places are the tea plantations. Unfortunately, I did not have the resources to spend on something like that. I usually do things on my own. Hey, I even walked all the way here. Fortunately, for me the Bharat Tea Plantation is withing walking distance of the town of Tanah Rata.
The second viewpoint, the one further from the town, allows visitors to get up close and personal with the tea plants. From the viewpoint, there is flight of stairs which lead you the tea plantation. The paths along the tea plantations are expectedly dirt. Fortunately, there wasn’t any heavy rain that day so it wasn’t very muddy. The valley where the Baharat Tea Plantation is is quite picturesque rows of tea plants neatly arranged. It was also a bit intimidating since I can see how far I need to walk. I was told that the tea plants in some plantations could be as old as 70 years old since only the leaves are heavested. A lot of visitors come here to the tea plantation and I’m sure they are just as impressed as I am.
