Now that there is nothing to see from above. It was time to explore Clarke Quay. A few years ago, Clarke Quay underwent a multi-million dollar renovation from a simple collection of shop houses to the glitzy entertainment hub it is today. I remember when I used to visit the old Clarke Quay for its weekend flea market. There were a lot of toys and collectibles on sale there and it was really enjoyable to be just walking through the place and just looking at what’s available. I am also an avid fan of Japanese animation and I can say that Clarke Quay was the place to avoid to protect my wallet since there was a large group of toy shops selling Japanese animation figures that will only be too glad to part me with my hard earned money.

All that is past now, the weekend flea market and the toy shops have since moved on to China Sqaure Central. In its place is a modern eating and party place. Alongside the Singapore river are what I can best describe as lily pads. On these lily pads are restaurant seats for various establishments. It seems like a cool idea to have your dinner beside the Singapore River and it seems to work. There are a lot of patrons every night. The lily pads are all lighted up in various colors and it is really photogenic. Looking back, it seems Clarke Quay as gone a long way to be what it is right now and it has already become some sort of a catalyst since the neighboring areas are also livening up.
