I remember from some years back that the Marina Bay area was a large patch of greenery. People would come to this park to relax and just let their kids loose. Not only that, it was also a place for the parents to let loose and once again be kids. The park was there a lot of locals come to fly kites. Literally flying kites, as there is a local phrase about “flying kites” which means to bluff or mislead. The kites were really and it was quite an experience to be able to do that in a such a modern city such as Singapore.
Fast forward ten years, the park is no longer there and in its place is a large structure which is part of the Marina Barrage. The park from ten years ago has been turn into a rooftop park along the ramps of the barrage building. It was a really ingenious use of space to introduce more greenery in Singapore while not sacrificing progress. The park is now a popular place for locals to once again kick back and relax. Still here are the kids flying kites. Probably as an improvement over the old park, it is now elevated and you have a great view of the central business district and the marina area. But the afternoon though insects seem to take over the area so better ring some bug repellent.
