Finally we passed the town of Shek O from above and started out descent. It seems that the path will be bringing us behind the mountain, and away from the amazing view. The view behind the mountain is actually not that bad, but because the sun was there I couldn’t get a decent photo. The descent unfortunately, wasn’t as pretty as the Dragon’s Back itself. At this point, we were slowly encountering more and more trees, which obscured even the not so pretty view behind the mountain.
As I gaze into the mountains here, I can’t help be notice that the mountains are all made of solid rock. This is not to say that all other mountains aren’t but it is just that I can see a lot of bare rock here without much vegetation. In fact, as we go down the mountain, we would pass by massive boulders which appear to have just rolled down the mountain fairly recently. Not a good thought. I can take solace in the fact that I didn’t see any boulders on the hiking path itself. Hopefully it stays that way.
