The Sign to the Dragon's Back

When I was trying to figure out where my friend and I should go, I got a booklet from the Hong Kong Tourism Authority which lists down several hikes visitors can try. I actually wanted to try one of the longer but most spectacular ones but my friend didn’t seem to be keen on that, so I chose a shorter one but probably just as spectacular. The Dragon’s Back trail was recommended by the guide book and since it was easy enough to get to, we decided to pas this one a visit.

Our Destination on the Dragon's Back

The Dragon’s Back is part of the Shek O Country Park, and it is one of the main features of the country park itself as it is known for its splendid views and relatively easy walk. The walk through the Shek O Country Park is quite uneventful since most of it was just along a well trodden path, the gradient was very gentle if there was one. That is until we saw the sign to the Dragon’s Back 龙背.

The sign pointed to a path with stairs, a sure sign that I need to work my legs a little more. The great thing is, there were hardly any people here and it was still a pleasant walk. It was a pleasant change from the forest walk we just went through as this one would be letting us climb the mountain itself. The Dragon’s Back was once named as one of Asia’s Great Hikes and I’m looking forward finding out why.
