If you are sick and tired of being surrounded by skyscrapers in Hong Kong. It would come as a surprise to you that it is actually easy to get away from it all in Hong Kong. What’s more, Hong Kong’s transport system make it very easy for people to get from one place to another, this includes nature. The territory is dotted with numerous country parks and make it an ideal place to get a away from it all. I was visiting the Shek O Country Park, getting here is very easy, just take the bus 9 from Shaukweiwan MRT station. This country park is one of the easier ones to get to, so there should not be any reason for visitors not go try this interesting hike.
The Shek O Country Park trail goes through a lot of forested mountains and most of the time we were going around the mountain and through the forest. The path is well trodden. Once in a while, you can see what seem to be dried river beds. In the rainy season, torrents of water some from the top of the mountain through these rivers beds to create temporary falls. It made it a little tougher to go through these portions since the river beds were all rock and footing is a little shaky. It would be bed not to get too near the edge of the riverbed when crossing them as you might have a nasty fall down in to the trees below.
