It would come as a surprise that majority of Hong Kong is actually protected land, meaning these are all greens. This may be difficult to believe since most images of Hong Kong are that of soaring skyscrapers and mammoth shopping centers. I was delighted to find out about this as I would regularly drag people with me to climb Victoria Peak from Lan Kwai Fong. I really loved this activity as not only it was cheap, it was refreshing too. I thought to myself that if I find myself staying in Hong Kong for a long period of time, I would do this regularly.
Now that I’m here, I want to at least do some hiking even if it was for half a day. Finally the choice was made, we took a MTR to Shaukeiwan Station and took another bus to our starting point. As soon as the bus left the city, the bus started climbing the mountain and bringing you through some spectacular scenery. The tall apartment buildings were all blow you, much like how it looks like on the way to the peak. It would seem my friend had already gone through at least some part of the hike and kind of knew where to get off. Then again maybe not, since we got off a little early. Anyway, a little hiking wouldn’t hurt, right?
