One of the most scenic places in Hong Kong is the promenade area in Tsim Sha Tsui. This place is best accessed by the taking the Star Ferry from either Central or Wan Chai. To the left of the Star Ferry Terminal is a relatively new promenade area, which they have improved on by adding another level some years back. I thought this was a good idea since it tends to be packed here for events and the second level is certainly a good way to increase the capacity of the area.
The promenade area follows shore of the Tsim Sha Tsui area all the way to Tsim Sha Tsui East and beyond. It is always a pleasant place to walk here, even more so now that the second level has been completed, at least it provides a little shade on hot days. As expected a lot of people frequent this place since this is the best place to appreciate one of the most recognizable cityscapes in the world.
Over the years the harbor has gradually narrowed due to land reclamation and it continues even to this day much to the dismay of the residents. Just across the promenade area, you can see construction going on in the Wanchai/Admiralty area which will be the site of a large civic center. I wonder if these land reclamations would one day make the harbor disappear altogether. That will be a sad day for all who have visited Hong Kong.
