A visit to the oldest church in the Philippines is always welcome. Just like my previous visit to the Manila Cathedral, the San Agustin Church was also bereft of people even though it was a Sunday, since there was no Holy Mass going on. However, unlike the Manila Cathdral, the San Agustin Church had an upcoming even, a wedding. It seems that there will be one a few hours later. Not a surprise since the church is a popular place for weddings. It would take months or years to get a reservation for a wedding here.
At least there weren’t as much vehicles yet so it was still okay to take photos. Unfortunately for me the sun was really hot and I kept myself under the shade. It was probably terrible shooting conditions too but I don’t really have the whole day to wait for the perfect lighting. As it turns out, the San Agustin Church originally had two bell towers but the one of the left suffered a huge crack during an earthquake and was subsequently demolished. It was kind of hard to tell before, but now that I look at it, it does look like it is missing something. Maybe they could start a new project to restore the old bell tower.
