Walking down from the San Guillermo Church in Talisay town in Batangas, I spotted the waters of the lake not too far from the main road, I quickly made my way to the lake. Along the way was a gymnasium where residents were practicing for the parade in celebration of the town fiesta which was not too far off. The practice was basically a band playing an a majorette practicing the baton twirling. I’m sure there are other presentation in the parade but I didn’t have time to observe the practice.
To get to Taal Lake, I need to cross the main road of Talisay town and walk past the public market of the town. It seems the market was closed as there was hardly any activity there. I continued walking towards the water until I hit the port where outrigger canoes take visitors to the volcano island. Apparently, people live on the volcano too so they also ferry residents to and from Talisay town.
From the port, I could see a nice view of the Taal Volcano probably the first time I have seen this from this angle. The port has a lot of outridgger canoes parked and it seems that business was slow. Most of the people at the port were taking a bath in the waters of the lake which I understand was clean. A local approached me and asked me whether or not I would want to visit the volcano island. It seems that he was the dispatcher of the boats and he would be able to give me a good price.
I couldn’t really think of what to do at that point, probably it was because I was hungry and I was looking for something to eat. The man noticed that and he promptly asked me if I want to eat with them. They have fish and other stuff to eat. I took the offer while considering his offer for the boat ride.
