Making My Way Down the Forest Walk

One of the centerpieces of the Southern Ridges walk is the Forest Walk. The Forest Walk is an impressive elevated walkway that cuts through secondary growth forest and brings visitors up close and personal with the forest itself. The walkway was built such that verly little of the forest is disturbed. The entire walkwaly is made of metal and it is very stable.

In some places it is possible for visitors to actually go down to the forest floor to get even closer to the forest and its inhabitants but I didn’t bother with that. There were a lot of visitors at the Forest Walk but it is big and long enough to accomodate all the visitors. The walk starts from Telok Blangah Hill and gently winds its way down the hill in a zigzag pattern. It is also disabled friendly since there are no stairs whatsoever.

I’m very impressed with the Forest Walk and into how much effort went into preserving what is left of the forest. It is this kind of environmentally conscious achievement that Singapore is making a name for itself. Best of all, there is no entrance fee, anyone can just drop by an hike up or down the Forest Walk. Much of the walk is covered by plants too, so it is not that hot either making for a very pleasant walk.
