Mount Faber is a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle that is Singapore. True to their marketing campaign, Singapore really is a garden city, that even their highest point is also a garden. There are a lot of colorful flowering plants here on the podium, it also has arrows that point to major Asian cities, as to how accurate it is is anybody’s guess. One of the most significant features of this part of the park is the Merlion.
The Merlion as its name implies is sea based lion, more accurately, it is a lion with a fish’s body. Designed in the 1960’s and used up to now, the Merlion has become the symbol of Singapore. Just like a trademark, the use of the Merlion’s image is tightly regulated and Singapore itself only has a few statues of the Merlion. One of these exclusive statues of the Merlion is here in Mount Faber. It is a rather modest statue considering there are only a handful of them in existence in the entire country.
