It will be a long 15 hour journey from Phuket to Bangkok, so I best better get ready. I hurried to the market to find a place to eat where I chanced upon this moderately upscale looking eating place. They serve Thai food and I ordered some fish cakes and deep fried squid. The squid itself was so-so but the fish cakes were nice, most especially when combined with Thai sweet chilli sauce.
Amusingly, the establishment had a dog loitering in the premises and it seemed really relaxed at that time. The dog was just lying on its back and just minding its own business it was quite amusing really. Phuket has been all that it has been touted and more. I wasn’t expecting to see some history and culture here in Phuket but it surprisingly reminded me of Singapore and Malacca – minus the idyllic beaches.
Phuket is also a family friendly place which caters to all age groups. It is also easy to get around here. But mostly, if you have money since the taxi mafia would sure be looking out for you. I really wouldn’t mind coming back here to relax and spend a few days not doing anything. In fact, the retirement industry it really big here and a lot of foreigners have bought places here to settle down. Phuket has definitely bounced back from the tragedy of the tsunami just a few years ago.
