The Phuket International Airport wasn’t as massive as the one in Bangkok, it feels morel like a provincial airport which it actually is. At least there is no feeling of being overwhelmed by a massive terminal building such as Bangkok’s Survarnabhumi Internation Airport. It was easy enough to get around. Outside the terminal, there is a regular shuttle which brings you to Phuket Town. It was a good 45 minute travel to the town, which made me realize how big the island actually is. After all, Phuket is Thailand’s biggest island.
The island has impressive infrastructure with the road from the airport to the town of Phuket nicely paved. The town itself isn’t the one that is beside the beaches but this are where the cheaper accomodations are. So this is where I will be staying. From the bus terminal, I walked around a few blocks looking for a cheap place to stay in until I saw the sign Joe Mansion. I inquired about a room and it the rates were quite reasonable, since I will be staying here for a couple of days, cheap is good.
The guest house itself is very near the landmark clock tower of Phuket town and it is a stones throw away from the market, perfect for eating. The staff at Joe Mansion, unfortunately, do not speak a lot of English but they know what to say, “passport”, “thank you” and stuff like that. The bedroom itself is very spacious and it is spotlessly clean. The size of the bedroom made it look a little bare but I didn’t really care. It came with airconditioning and cable TV too. I finally got to rest after a day of travelling. It was hard believe that just hours before, I was in Myanmar. I believe I made a great choice staying at Joe Mansion. As far as I am concerned, I have all that I need here. The location is great, the place it nice and clean and it is quite affordable.
