Right next door to Bright Hotel is the quirky named Miss Nyaungshwe Restaurant. This place seems a little bit small than the other places I have eaten at. The interiors have a simple native design reminiscent of some Philippine eateries I have been to. They had an area beside the main road, well, not that I can really see much here at this time of the night. Miss Nyaungshwe Restaurant has an English menu too.
I finally tried something different. So far most of the Burmese food I had here were disappointing to say the least. I would consider the food here something like Cambodian food, simple and not very spicy. I ordered a tofu dish which was under the Burmese food section. One common item I keep seeing in their menus is lassi. Lassi is basically yoghurt drink. I often see lassi in the supermarkets but I wanted to try them here. Unfortunately, I keep getting disappointed. The lassi vendor didn’t pass by that day so I had to content myself with mango juice.
The tofu dish look very much like a Chinese dish but tasted nothing like it. It was actually not bad, and if you didn’t know any better you would swear that it is not tofu. The mango juice was so-so, but what made it worse was the fact that it was not cold. I don’t know about you, but I love my mango juice cold. Since electricity isn’t really that dependable here in Myanmar, cold drinks are naturally quite rare.
Miss Nyaungshwe Restaurant was a nice change from the other restaurants I have been to. Since it was just next door to Bright Hotel, I should have tried it much sooner.
