Whenever I am in Manila, I would make it a point to visit this huge mall in Makati City. Glorietta is a mall built by the Ayala Group of companies which is one of the largest property developers in the Philippines. In fact, the entire Central Business District of Makati is practically owned by this company. They has successfully converted this former swampland to the country’s premiere business district.
Glorietta is the company’s largest project in the area and they have continuously upgraded the malls. The latest addition is a brand new but uninspiring building to replace one of the wings which have been damaged by an explosion a few years ago. It was said that the building was meant to catch the outsourcing fever gripping the industry. The mall is enormously popular and it filled with people at all times of the day. I remember going there during office hours and there were still so many people. Makes me wonder “Don’t these people need to work?”.
