The sleepy restaurant row of Alona Beach comes alive at night. Here, chairs and tables are laid out for any customers that may drop by. Usually, the divers have already come back from their dives and are combing the beach for something to eat. Most of these divers are westerners so it is no surprise to see the the food is mostly catered to their tastes. Of course there is a sprinkling of Filipino cuisine here.
As I window shop along the restaurant row, a lot of restaurants have a barbeque theme where fresh catch from the sea is all displayed, ready for the grilling. Needless to say there is a lot of seafood to choose from – from all sorts of fish to shellfish like clams and lobster. Customers will the pick and fish or shellfish and ask them to cook it for you. Thankfully, the restaurant row of Alona Beach is nowhere near as rowdy and as noisy as its big brother Boracay. It is very much possible to relax here in Alona Beach and just listening to the crashing of the waves. I realize too that it was already my last day for this trip, I would be leaving the next day. This is the sort of life you hope you can bring back with you.
