This tour of the Banaue Rice Terraces is turning out to be quite interesting since I didn’t really get to do this the first time I went here. Plus I have a great guide with a tricycle to boot. Jordan, our guide, then took us to the second viewpoint which is also called the Engineer’s Viewpoint. I really have no idea why it was named so, although there was a marker at the viewpoint saying what the place was which was sponsored by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers.

When we got to the Engineer’s Viewpoint, there were a couple of old Ifugao women who were dressed in traditional Igorot attire. It was obvious what they were after. Afterall, these types of clothes are no longer normally worn by the Igorots except maybe for special occasions. In this case, they are worn for tourism. Yes, I needed to pay to be able to take a photo of them. Being the miser that I am, I didn’t really want to take their photo anymore. Besides, it won’t be that authentic anymore.

Like the first viewpoint, there weren’t any tourists here, with me snapping away at the magnificent rice terraces. I was really lucky this time since the fields are just being planted and some of the terraces are already bright green in color. I could not stop staring at these marvels but Jordan was getting ready to bring us to the final view point.
