I made short work of the Chengyang Bridge Scenic Park and breezed through the place in an hour and a half. A bus back to Sanjiang passes by the entrance of the park every half an hour. Retracing my steps, I got on a bus back to Longsheng. Finally, back on track, I got on a bus to the village of Pingan 平安 still in Longsheng county. The trip should actually be quite short but halfway through the trip, at the town of Heping 合平, the bus waited to pick up more passengers.
I was not in a hurry anymore so I didn’t mind the short wait. Well, the bus didn’t get filled up anyway so we moved on. The village of Pingan is on a mountainside so our bus started climbing, there was fog so visibility wasn’t that good and I didn’t get to see much of the views. At the top, the villagers just walked right through the entrance while tourists need to pay the entrance fee.
As usual there were touts hounding all the disembarking bus riders, in my case, an old lady hounded me for accomodation. I didn’t really plan an accomodation in advance here since I was planning to find one when I get here, so I just went with here. It was quite a walk up the mountain side. With my heavy backpack, it was all the more difficult. Well, she did offer to carry the backpack but how can I let an old lady carry it for me? We kept walking up the road past a lot of souvenir stalls until I can see the main village of Pingan still on top.
It seemed like the stairs were endless, something I should be used to by now. I kept asking her “Are we there yet?” but she just kept moving on. I guess this stairs is nothing to her since she probably climbs them every single day. At least I can see where my general destination is.
Finally we arrived at her place. This is A Meng House 阿蒙家. Apparently A Meng is the name of his son. Their house is a nice little Zhuang 壮 style wooden house. It looked simple but cozy. Before I could change my mind, she quickly led me up the house to my room. They have another double room for me with attached bathroom though the toilet was the squat type and when I first entered the bathroom the floor was wet. This one was for only RMB60. Sold. I immediately dumped my stuff in my room. Since it was already late in the day, I didn’t have much time to explore the surrounding area. I will have to do it the next day.
