One of the main attractions at Kuala Lumpur is the Kuala Lumpur City Center also known as KLCC. Probably the best known landmark here are the Petronas Twin Towers, once the world’s tallest buildings in the world when they were completed in 1998. The Petronas Twin Towers are truly amazing, both towers were inspired by Islamic shapes and with great results. It has 88 floors each, with a bridgeway connecting the two towers midway.
The new city center is quite impressive with several towers already constructed. Directly attached to the KLCC is the Maxis Tower. At ground level is a high end shopping mall called Suria. Outside is a public park for people to gather and relax. It really is a nice place to hang out as there are a lot of restaurants around to try. The park also has a huge pool with dancing fountains with regular shows. It does seem to be quite popular with the locals.
Also nearby the KLCC is another KLCC, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. This is also another big structure, but not of the same scale as the Petronas Twin Towers. One could walk several kilometers from KLCC and still see Petronas Twin Towers. It is tastefully lighted giving it the appearance of giant rockets ready to blast off into space. They are understandably Malaysia’s pride.
Getting here is easy since KLCC is one of the stations in their mass transit systems. The map on any of the stations will tell you how to get there.
