The Singapore Night Festival featured more extraordinary performances from Studio Festi. The next performance featured ladies with huge ball gowns. The ladies were perched on top of a small vehicle with the huge gown hiding the rest of the vehicle. During their practice sessions, the head of the driver amusingly popped out from the performer’s gown. This performances wasn’t really anything to write home about. The performers just rolled in and did their number and rolled out.
Studio Festi is known for their use for large props in their performances notably balloon representing celestial objects like the planets, moons, the sun and others. There performance at the Singapore Night Festival was no exception. Dancers would beautifully perform alongside the spheres to the delight of the audience.
As if that wasn’t enough a performer hanging from a freely floating balloon also comes out and delights the crowd. To keep the performer from flying off into the sky, a support team holds on to cables attached to the balloon, to keep it and the performer from flying away. It was a very entertaining experience to see them dancing gracefully.
The support group would sometimes bring down the spheres so that the performer can interact with the crowd. Seeing it is like seeing an angel come down from the sky and interacting with you. And the crowd loves it. Each time the performer comes close to them, they scream with delight. It is hard not to, since you hardly ever see anything like this.
The second part of the Singapore Night Festival was held at the Singapore Management University grounds. Studio Festi continued with impressive performances. One of them was a female performer with a large transparent bowl of water. Just like a child playing in a swimming pool, the performer entertained the crowd with a combination of dance and acrobatics. Lighting also gave the performance quite an atmosphere.
The final performance of the night featured fire. The performers would light torches and perform with them. As we all know, it is no joke playing with fire, what more dancing with it, I suppose the dancers need to be extra careful when performing, although they did so effortlessly. Not content with playing with fire. They also lit flares, really powerful ones with gave the area a red glow. This is a wonderful performance that brought Studio Festi’s performance at the Singapore Night Festival to a close. I really hope they come back for more performances.
