Blarney Castle is one Ireland’s most famous destinations. It is an old castle built in the year 1446. It seems that there were earlier structures here but there was nothing left of the older structure. The thing with castles is they tend to get destroyed every now any then. There were wars where the castle would be besieged and eventually captured. The castle changed hands several times because of the wars. I guess as a fortress it was pretty effective since it was a prime target of attack. The castle was several stories high and it made for a good look out post as well as a stronghold.

At the time of my visit, part of the castle was covered up as it is undergoing restoration. It is nice to see the castle getting maintained. However, it also makes you wonder how much of the structure is the original. The number of tourists which come here increase the wear and tear of the castle especially the most famous part of the castle. I still have no idea where it actually is but I believe I will find it as long as I follow the people streaming through the castle. As a clue, there was a shop below the castle which sells photos of you.
