At this point, I was just trying to go around the block to see if there is anything interesting. I gave up trying to follow the map since I think I have been to the major ones. I was hoping to be able to see more of the city and I hope I was going in the right direction. It looked like I would have one final stop before leaving the historical center of Philadelphia. Just off to the left was another imposing building and very similar to a previous one which I visited earlier. This was the First Bank of the United States.
I ran into the Second Bank of the United States as I was leaving the Independence Hall area. The building didn’t look very nice and I think it was under renovation since the whole building was painted white, probably for later painting. The First Bank of the United States building looks much like the Second Bank Building but this has a more normal building color. And just like the Second Bank, the First Bank served as some kind of Central Bank of the early United States. It was established to help expand the finances and credit of the country. I don’t know if it is possible to go in the building since I wasn’t really interested in it. It seemed to be closed though and I attributed that to the weekend.
